Hi Darren
It will tow in 5th gear on the flat and downhill as log as you keep the speed up, if I drop below 90 I change back to 4th and always change as soon as I start pulling up
hill

Darren,
I bought an 04 3L man Patrol in August and the salesman at Fennessy's here in
Busselton told me not to tow in 5th.
I have towed vans with a 4runner, Prado and now the Patrol and only ever tow in 4th and haven't had any bother yet.
