I'd take it back.....false advertising if it doesn't do what's advertised. Check your manual first though to make sure this is the case otherwise you will look a bit silly!

If they see the extra holes I doubt it. Of course they have to see them don't they.

Paint the heads of the screw the same colour as the case, screw in and touch up paint if necessary.

I think you are after extra receive channels for listening to the police etc. I can't find anything in the specs about this for your model or the previous model. The 40 user programmable channels are not frequency programmable and their are no spare channels for this. You brought the wrong radio...take it back and get a GME

jb You could fill the holes with a couple of pop rivets[aluminium or steel]that match the case!

If it doesn't do what the sales person described it would then you have a right to a refund. So yeah I'd be taking it back to them and asking them to show you how to do it.
Quite often with these units you need cables and software to connect to a PC to change the channels.

so they should refund the money and not give me store credit, i am positive that it is not computer programable beause there is no socket on the back and also uniden confirmed with me that it is not programmable

When they say '40 user progammable channels', maybe they mean programming them in or out of the scan mode.

Buy GME, and fit screws into the case at your peril. Could damage one of PCB's, then you won't be able to program anything.
Dick Smith sells a handy little mounting kit, that includes brackets and screws, that are useful to mount radios in different situations.
Hooroo...

The Uniden UH013 is the one with the 40 programmable channels, not the UH088sx.
You should be able to get your money back, or swap for a GME TX4400 or ICOM IC400PRO and pay the difference. Both those radios have programmable receive-only frequencies and are a similar size to the UH088sx.
