Once you slow down to an idle after any drive(short or long, cold or hot engine) the injectors clack clack for a few seconds (usually only about 10 secs.)What causes this? What can be done to stop this as it dosnt sound real flash.Vehicle runs fine, no black smoke, good economy(should there's no power)Its always done it since we got it 20000kms ago but just wondering what causes it.Motor is the hugely powerful 2.8 lt Diesel/3L.Thanks All Nick

I have a 2.8 TD GU Patrol 215,000K and mine does the same thing. I wouldn't have thought it was the injectors though. I have never found what makes the noise but I suspect it is the vacum pump which sits on top of the rocker cover and runs off the cam. At low idle - only time I hear the rattle which I think is the pump lever tapping on the cam.

Gday Peter, may not be the injectors but awhile ago I read on a Toyota Forum that the injectors in the 2.8lt have a habbit of clacking.
Should have said also that its done it for 40000kms now, dosnt worry me just annoying.
