If you get a chance, go test drive one of these little buggers. The VW diesel engines in them are spectacular.

That's why the dealers tell me in brisbane they have none to sell. orders orders orders till the cows come home.

Make you wonder why u'd by a toyota prius when they like use 1L per 100km less than the Gold TD with a fraction of the performance.

True.
I was so impressed that I acutally ordered one late Nov.
Delivery mid FEB !!!!
Good thing I made the dealer give me a new petrol (ick) Golf V for the time in between. It's sitting in my driveway as I type... :-) 300klm on the odo. free cars are good.

Yup - Euro diesels are phenomenal these days.

The Merc unit in mine is nearly as grunty as a good V8 - with as much torque - and lower down in the rev range - all for 8.5L/100 on road and 10L/100 offroad.

I don't intend to go back to petrol after this engine... :)

with the Golf, you get a choice, 250nm or 330nm
5.5 or 5.6 l/100klm.
in a car that weighs 1250kg, you can imagine.....

got some grunt eh?
but this annoys me
"The 125mm 80km/h-limited space-saver tyre allows a flat, boot floor, but leaves no room to put the flat, 235mm tyre when it is taken off the car."

At least in a hatchback you can put it in the boot so long as you don't have a full load. What I want to see is one of these 2 seater convertables with FA boot space get a flat. Where do you put it then? On the passengers lap?
