Hi Guys,
Planning of doing
Walcott Inlet as part of an extended trip to the Kimberly next year. Was wandering if anyone has done this recently and what they thought of it. The place looks fantastic and all indications are that there would be no problems but I am interested in what this
forum has to say on the issue.
Kind regards

I think it was
walcott inlet or it may have been another in the area apparantly there is a track to that you need to obtain a key to which wont be issued unless you have a suitably modified vehicle, Sorry that is all the info I have but I remember reading about it when I was up that way 03 hopefully others have better info

Thanks Davoe,
It has access via private property and it is my undestanding that the owners of Mt Elizabeth Station (Bushtracker safaries) maintain this track for which a usage fee is payable. Maybe not the same track!!??
Kind regards

Access to this track is via Mt Elizabeth Stn. They will charge you $50 minimum that goes towards track maintainance. They also maintain a
good camp at Bachestan
Creek (about $10 a night). The track is long and at times rough. The Mt Elizabeth folk may decline to give you access if they think you are ill prepared or have unsuitable vehicles.
Walcott Inlet is not very exciting as
Kimberley places go unless you are serious fisher folk and have a boat with enough freeboard to keep the crocs out. There is no
water there. There is an exit rack down through
Beverley Springs Stn, but don't bet of getting past a
locked gate without prior arrangements. This track is very rough but passable with good 4WD expertise.

went into
Walcott Inlet in August this year. The access is throough a private track from Mt.Elizabeth station which is 30km. off the
Gibb River rd.There is
camping at the station$11 per head per night. They charge$50 for access plus $75-$100 towards the track upkeep so be prerared to spend $150 per vehicle. The track is VERY bad and rocky in
places and you will take about 9 hrs driving to do approx. 220km. into the inlet. There are numerous
camp spots along the way and Iwould reccomend spending a night on the way in as it is VERY hard on your vehicle.Bachsten
Camp($10 per night)is 75km from the inlet. There is not much to do there except fish and 2 boats are advised for safety reasons as the incoming tide is awsome with many big crocs around.Care should be taken on the river banks as they are very unstable and muddy. Also take note that the shorter track in from Beverly Springs has been closed---good luck--been there done that!!

G'day
Gordon,
Would appreciate pictures. Sounds like just the place to get away from it all. We are traveling in a group of 5 vehicles and have fishing and 4 wheeling as a priority. I am expecting the track to be rough and we will be equiped for that.
Can you email the pics to,
theo.moret@qed.qld,gov.au
Thanks in advance and kind regards
