We are planning on
camping in the
Coorong National Park for a couple of days after Christmas on hte way back from
Robe. We will have a light boat in tow.
Can you get access to
the beach with a trailer in tow?
Where are the best
places to
camp with either boat access to the Coorong or to the
ocean beach?
Thanks
Paj

I'm not saying u can or can't get across with a trailer in tow but what i will tell you is that i have never seen one in tow on
the beach there...and as for launching a boat on
the beach???????........possibe but not easy i would say. Plenty of boat access to coorong at
places like

One of the big problems this, and later, is the wind.
A huge se blows the whole time!!!!

Paj,
Parnaka Point (I think it is called, if not something similar) is a few k's east of
Meningie. Has excellent launching facilities,
camping, shelter, BBQ etc. Very nice scenery travelling along the Coorong either way.

I tried to tow a CT across when I was green just to see if i could and gave it away quick smart.
Without the CT it was ok, but I walked two of the crossings before I tried and had SWAMBO stand at a strategic point in case I met someone coming the other way.
Launch a boat on the other side? You'd have to be crazy!
Beware of the locals who think it is a piece of cake because they cross all the time, but if it is unfamiliar territory proceed with care would be my advice and using all sand driving techniques at your disposal.
The Coorong itself is great apart from the lack of a good flush from the Murray.
Have fun,
Camper
