hi I am looking at purchasing a portable recovery anchor for my four wheel drive. how effective are they, price? The ones I have seen advertised are firma grip and p.r.t. (portable rescue tree) Any advice appreciated. Are they better (more reliable/safer) than the star picket and buried tyre methods?

the burried spare wheel works great
it got me out of the gloop whilst crossing lake Nabaru on the canning .
why spend money on a ground anchor when you already have a spare wheel and a spade ???
only hard bit is digging the hole but it doesnt need to be deep
