I wish you all a very safe and Happy Christmas ....and can anybody help with a little problem I have noticed on my son's 4WD . The left front tyre is worn almost bald on just the outside 5 centimetres only , which pointed to a wheel alignment , but I noticed an almost identical wear pattern on the left rear tyre as well , and that does not look good . Tyres are inflated correctly and the vehicle was serveced quite recently but I do not like the wear pattern .....can anybody offer some advice re causes .
Thank you ,
Douglas C

possibly driving to fast round corners etc or front end alignment
as for rear tyre-possibly been rotated to rear from front at the recent service
supposed to check tyre pressures at service intervals so maybe the tyres were low and mechanic inflated them to correct pressure
possibly return to where service was carried out and ask why they didnt mention the tyres if they are that bad

do you live in a court? repeated U-turns (like at the end of a ct) can cause this type of wear. either that or aliens...

(p.s) NEVER trust aliens.

I live in a court so can back that one up, also had Bridgestones crap, useless, no grip, non lasting 689's. They suffered badly from our court situation.

Yep, Bridgestones have a built in design feature just for the outside 50mm of all front left hand tyres and right rear tyres to wear out quicker so you have to replace more often.

jackablue,
The son has B F Goodrichtyres on at present , but yes , he does live in a court so he will get a wheel alighnment done and try different approaches when coming and going to see if that helps , eg backing into garage so not turning in the same direction constantly .
Many thanks.

If you have a lot of roundabouts where you live that would explain the tyres wearing the way they are.
You could try increasing your tyre pressure by 5psi it will help.
Also tell your son to lift his foot a bit that might help to.

You should rotate the tyres every 5000km so they all wear evenly as well.

Thanks to all for your contributions, the son lives in a court and there are a number of roundabouts in the area ...he will plan to try and choose different ways to go to and from home so that he is not turning the same way so constantly .he will have an alignment done ASAP and see if after that he can obviate the directional wear ....much obliged to all.
