Hi all.
Before I make my request, Merry Xmas and stay safe over the holiday period. Lets have EVERY body back in the new year.
My request. Do any of you
well travelled people have info on the above track. My info shows "rarely used track" is this correct.
Regards

G'day Wim,
Travelled up from
Tibooburra along this track through Bulloo Downs Station back in 2001. As it is a fairly
well used track for the station hands, it was pretty good back then. I had permission from the station before hand and recommend you contact the manager at Bulloo Downs before proceding with trip. They were quite happy for us to use the track and gave permission to
camp overnight at one of the creeks too. Since Stanbrokes have since sold their pastoral holdings, i can't say whether this is likely to have changed.
Re. the track. It was a good drive with some interest along the way. Notably the station itself, a fair degree of bird and animal life (watch out for stock too) and at a creak crossing not far from Wompah
gate, there was the rusty shell of an old Land Rover up in a tree. Not sure if this is true, but we were told it floated into the tree during a flood and instead of recovery, they stripped the motor and running fear for spares. Either way it is a sight to see!
It is a good alternate route to going through Noccundra though.
Enjoy your trip.

Pfeff.
Thanks for the feedback.
I have tried to find the phone number for Bulloo Downs but no luck.
Any ideas where I might start looking.

I'm surprised it doesn't show up on the Sensis search. I tried with no luck. It used to be a Stanbroke property but AMP sold that off and I noticed it's not listed with their properties now, but they may still have the number or can tell you how to find it. Their number is 07 3229 1516. Or you could also try Bulloo Shire Council on 07 4655 3133. Maybe they could help.
In any case, the road through the property is gazetted road and therefore open for public use. The main reason to contact the station would be for permission to
camp if required. The trek from
Thargomindah to
Tibooburra via Wompah
gate is an easy 1 day drive.
