An unusual request, but the very knowledgeable formulites may be able to help a friend. Her uncle was Wally Dowling one of the last drovers to travel the CSR. He died on route she believes and was buried at
Mistake Creek. He was a stockman from Billiluna Station. Does anyone have knowledge of the grave site.
Regards Ray

I just had a quick look through the Gardes book 'The CSR a travellers guide' and Wally does get a few mentions but no mention of his grave.
She might like to contact Ronele & Eric Garde in WA as they might know or may know someone who does.

Hello - according to Lonely
Graves of WA book by Y & K Coate :
Dowling, Wallie - buried on the banks of
Mistake Creek,
Mistake Creek Station,
Canning Stock Route. A drover who died in his sleep.
Doesnt help much I suppose but at least you know your on the right track :). Try ringing station owners/managers , they may know. If your heading out that way, and the grave is marked in some way it may not be too hard to find if its in the vicinity of the
intersection of the actual stock route and
Mistake Creek...maybe.
Cheers

G'day Ray (and a Merry Christmas),
Try contacting Roy (W3) at VKS737
Perth. He is very knowledgeable on the CSR, and if he dóesn't know- he will go out of his way to find out for you. It is he (Roy) that does the CSR reports etc on the VKS site.
Hope this helps.
