There is a Caravan Park in Gawler somewhere... Check your tourist book... Hard to camp near Gawler as it is a suburb of Adelaide..

Howdy Flannel Bros,
Two spots at Gawler that I know of. One is just south of Gawler on the Main North Rd called Dalkeith C P (08 8254 6699) the other is in Gawler itself called Gawler C P (08 85223805) and is certainly the better of the two close to all facilities and with shade, lawns, " river" etc. To reach it leave the Main Nth Rd (from Adelaide) where the signs say Gawler and keep driving thro the town, thro the Main St and straight thro the traffic lights at the northern end. Soon after that the road sweeps to the left, go past the servo on your right and the C P is almost next on your right.

To continue to Coober Pedy you will have to get across to the Port Wakefield Rd which is the main road to the north. There are several options for this but a road map or local advice will put you right.

Best of luck on your trip.

You can free camp on the Murray about 50km to the east of Gawler. Camping areas are mainly near the ferry crossings. There is a place to camp on top of Menglers Hill near Tanunda and also near Kyneton behind the Community Hall. From Gawler take the road to Two Wells which is on the Port Wakefield road. Throw a right and it is about 800 and something kilometres to Coober Pedy
