I have an old Jayco wind up camper (off road) behind an old Nissan Patrol. Where do I put the tinnie. I have seen some on top of the camper but mounting to the top of the camper doesn't sit well with me and the top of the Nissan is a long way up. I am thinking of mounting a carrier to the chassis of the camper from the rear bar and draw bar to carry the tinnie over the camper. the draw back is the tinnie has to come off to open the camper.

Any suggestion from experience would be appreciated. I am going beyond the bitumen so it has to solid.

regards
Daryl

I have seen one mounted on the roof of a landcruiser - with an arrangement to easily hoist it up. Can't give you any more details - just someone we met and admired their rig last year. Outboard was stowed in the "boot" of their full sized off road caravan. Slide out drawers with Engel for camping without the caravan, all well finished, made it one of the best units we have seen.

G`day Darylive'
Why not make up a frame that extends from in front of the Jayco,& a frame that extends from the rear. This frame work can pivot the tinnie over the side of the Jayco & onto the ground.By using gas struts this would make the lifting easier. If you are in Vic give us a bell on 0428300357.
Keep wandering

Bob,

You have got my attention.
I am in QLD (as are most victorians at the moment) but I live here. I have a welder etc. and was hoping for a plan or ideas. I do not follow your suggestion but am keen to hear more. I was contemplating a solid rack and roll on the tinnie but I am open to suggestions. You know what it is like when you spend time and money building something only to have some one come up with a better idea afterwards.

Perhaps you could send a scetch to darylive@dodo.com.au

Thanks mate
