You have selected the incorrect datum on one or other devices/maps/programs
Should more than likely be WGS84 or GDA94 and you have selected AGD66

No row. Nothing to do with what it is displaying information in, the datum is what model of reference was used to align geographical locations with locations on a map.

Regardless of what reference is used on the program or map you are using ie. UTM, Lat/Lon etc. the datum must also be set.

If you are using a Meridian go to:
Menu
Setup
Map Datum
Primary
Select WGS84
Enter
Esc back to screen

Then try your moving map again.

Once you've done that and generated the detail maps for your SD card, throw DiscoverAUS in the back of the hard drive and get a copy of OziExplorer and start collecting maps for it. You'll never look back.

I do use it for it's street search ability but other than that I do all my trip planning and post trip work on Ozi.

Regards

As the very erudite Dave Au has pointed out it is very likely a datum issue - so changing to lat/long will not help as this only changes the co-ordinate system used and the error will remain the same. There is no facility to change datums in DiscoverAus - its WGS84 and thats that. So the error is probably coming from GPS settings. I have not played with handheld GPS/laptops/moving map combination for a while (use ipaq+CF gps) so am a bit rusty..but I do remember that some GPS brands/units must have display datum set to that same as receiving program for moving map data (NMEA standard) to plot correctly i.e. set the display datum on gps to WGS84. I actually also use a ST Pro for certain jobs so will try and get a fix through the window and see if I can replicate your probelm..will advise.
Cheers

Row - yes can confirm that changing the display datum on your GPS to WGS84 will fix your problem. (Couldnt get a fix through the window to my PC so used the simulate function and changed setttings on GPS during plot from WGS84/Aus66).

Keep in mind this will not affect the downloading of waypoints/tracks - they always download in WGS84 irrespective of what datum you choose to display coords on the screen of your (Magellan) GPS unit.

Cheers
