(Try Again), My family and I are looking for beach camping in Northern NSW say 2-3hrs south of Brisbane with beach access for 4wd - any suggestions? We would like a change from Rainbow Beach (Qld).

There used to be a section of beach heading north from Iluka which was open. If I recall correctly the northern end is Black Rock Nat Park which is quite a nice spot.

It's been quite a few years so I may be off the mark. Access is just south of Evans Head. Looks like it's now called Bundjalung Nat Park.

Give that a go

Cheers

Hi,

Besides North Stradbroke Island and Moreton Island where the camping and 4WD activity is great you can head to Bundjalung National Park in Northern NSW.

Follow the link for detailed info on the area.

If you need more info drop me an email and I can send you the details of a website with piccies.

Cheers

A fair bit further south - of Grafton in fact - is Yuraygir NP. You can camp at Station Creek, or there is 4WD access to camping pretty much on the beach (we didn't get there ourselves as we didn't have a 4WD, but local friends go up there with their 4WD and camper trailer.) Also there is NP camping right on the beach at Minnie Water. Here's a National Parks link.

Might be all too far south... but anyway.

We have stayed at Wooli Bushland Caravan Park twiced (mainly because they let you have dogs) and then done both bush and beach 4wding in day trips from there. Similar area to where the others are mentioning though ie coastal from Grafton. Other than that dont know of anywhere you can beach drive between there and Brisbane.

If you want to go north (4 hours) we have just come back from Moore Park Beach (15 mins north of Bundaberg). Its a normal caravan park but the unpowered sites are just a large area so pick where you want to go. There is lots to see in Bundy plus some beach and bush driving as well (and you can take dogs).

THANKS DAISY,
I've got family in Bundy that I should visit - I'll see if they can send me down a few pics first - it's a long way with three kids in the car!
