Gu 3LTD Auto power loss at below 2000rpm

My truck has started to loose power when the reves drop below 2000rpm. I have to either shift into 2nd or lift the foot and plant it again. First noticed it prior to last service 2500k ago, checked airfilter as it was replaced at service prior, and as I hadn't been off road since the filter didn't appear dirtyand fuel filter was only 7000k's old. Since then have replaced fuel and air filters but the problem is still there, as I said once I get to 2000rpm and above everytjing is 'honkey dory'.
Any clues? Don't want to take it to local Nissan dealer if I can help, no confidence in their ability to fault find.

Michael, welcome to the club.
This seems to be an inherent problem with both manual and auto versions of the Patrol 3.0 T/D. I have been asking questions of other owners for over 3 months as to suitable remedies but have not got very far. Have fitted a D-Tronic which works a bit and looking at a 2 3/4 inch mandrell exhaust replacement to get rid of the fumes a bit quicker.
Talk to your dealer as the more we complain the more the chance of something to be done. Nissan by all accounts have made some small changes to the new model to overcome this problem but I have not hearde of any actual results.
I will be watching any feedback you may recive with interest.

Hi Michael, at the last "4wd & adventure show" here in
perth, I spoke to the guys at
United Fuel Injection about the exact same problem I have with my 3.0 GU. I have organised to go see them in the next couple of weeks, but the guts of what I was told is this...
1. When Nissan dealerships can't find or fix injection or turbo problems, they refer the vehicle to the specialists.
2. Most common problems with this model are vacuum hoses, as mentioned above, or "air flow meter" is faulty, which can have similar result.
3. 3.0 turbo patrol is not as bad as some people say. Lots of wild stories going around, started by people who want to put the wind up Nissan owners.
If you're near a major town or city, I would look up the yellow pages and talk to the specialists.... Fuel injection / turbo specialists.

Yeah the guys at
United are great, they did the job on my injector pump when Nissan couldn't identify the problem and at half the price Nissan wanted turned out to be the AR Sensor and not the injector pump as Nissan predicted. Looks like biting the bullet and spending the $ and getting the airflow sensor checked.

Check the (small) vacuum hoses that control the variable pitch turbo.
Any blockage or bad kink in these hoses will stop the turbo from spooling up quickly (and mean it runs constantly at low boost).
In the SeriesII they had a vacuum canister that terminates one of the hoses (deleted in the SeriesIII).
In my case there was a blockage at the join. Nissan couldn't find the fault in 5 visits over 6 months (and even replaced the turbo unit) - my local guy found it in a couple of hours.
I knew it was causing power issues - just didn't know how bad until I got it back working correctly!
Something to check anyway...

brisbane they will fix your problem no worries. Ask them about their chip for nissan patrols it's pretty good. Also your turbo wont have spun up enough to get boost under 2000rpm's

i think from what i cam remember when i was looking at the motsons chip they can be self installed if not check out the tune-it chip they are self install and from what i hear pretty good. Whats
Perth like these days i left there 6 years ago and have not got back there yet.
