Purely for users info...........

One of my work vehicles, a 4.2 intercooled turbo diesel Patrol tray back ute, self destructed the turbo today.

The really dissapointing factor is that the vehicle has only 17k on it.

To their credit Nissan orgainised pick up (via RACQ) 1.5 hours from town and got it in their workshop the same day and have already confirmed that it will be fixed under warranty.

Hi,

Interesting. While we were at Big Red in September, I noticed a GU 4.2TD blowing lots of black smoke while trying to drive up the dune.
When he cam back down, I mentioned it to him and he told me he had blown the turbo a couple of days earlier. He was from West Wyalong. The truck had only 7000K on the clock at the time. Was still driveable and I guess he was going to drive it home that way.

Cheers

Interesting.... I noticed that the new ones (Intercooled models) have a different turbo than the older ones (non intercooled), may be the new ones (non water cooled) are not as good??

Funny, on the way to Windsor on Wednesday I followed a new Patrol with a large cardboard sign attached to his rear spare wheel which read "This Nisson's engine blew up and I have only done 44,000 kms" (or words to that effect).
