I notice that nearly all info on the
gunbarrel highway goes from west (
Wiluna) to the east.(Kata Tjuta National Park)) rather than the other way around.
Is there some significance to this?

if you wave your permits for the gcr then you are not charged entry fee

Having travelled it in June last year, I don't think t wouldn't matter which way you travelled the Gunbarrell, as long as you had permits.
It requires minimum 2 and maximum 5 cars for a permit on the abandoned section.
Your permit will get you through the toll at
Yulara free of charge.
