hi to all
i finally have some news on my gearbox .
it was pulled down by my repairer today & found a $1.50 spring to be at fault.
it is part of a shift lockout safety device which stops you selecting reverse from 5th.
the spring is very weak & he suspects it would get worse with a bit of heat.
only problem, is that nissan doesnt have spring & will take aprrox 1 week on a vor order to come in.this is not too much of a problem as i have been without car for 3 weeks at previous repairer with no result.
i spoke to repairer about 5th gear & assures me it is ok.

Interested t know how it goes when you get the spring. I had selector housings/hubs/syncros. Nissan finally agreed to replace my box last week. Ah feels like a new car again!

Was your gearbox hard to select from 5th to 4th or was it another problem?

Another problem. It was jumping out of second gear all the time. I saw your intial post, hence my curiosity of what your prob could be.
