Cameron, just recently returned from up there. No problem with Coburg (Black Point) just expensive and long lead time (limited no. vehicles allowed in at any one time so need to book months in advance). Designated camping areas very good and close to beach. Gove OK but need address in Gove (Nhulunbuy) before permit issued (book motel for 1st nite). Permits for camping in areas around Gove obtainable there (for fee) at Dhimurru Land Management. Giddy River great. No permits issued for travel across top of Arnhem between Coburg and Gove nor down eastern side of Arnhem via Numbulwar to Roper Bar. Lack of permits for latter due to traditional owner arrangement with tourist enterprise selling buffalo shooting trips to rich Americans. Its not what you know its who you know.
