hi all
i am still waiting for spring to turn up from nissan, they tell me monday (hopefully).
the few times i have driven car i wasnt real happy with its performance
compared to my previous car which was a 80 ser cruiser with an aftermarket
turbo. a few people have suggested to me to have it tuned by (not allowed to mention name)
the tune consists of o/haul injectors, adjust tappets, adjust timing, fuel aneroid mod, turbo adjust & on road adjustments.
they claim this makes a big difference as the nissan motor isnt set up real good from factory.
i have since read other article about other diesel shops who also have tune packages for the patrol & am a little bit sceptical about claimed performance increases .(30-40%).
appreciate any advise on this.
thanks spudit
p.s car had new fuel filter in november.

Definately the place to take it, My Gu's have been there, big difference. Generally with diesels, more power means more fuel. That is after the normal tune up, pump timing , injectors etc have been seen to. depends what you want, power or economy..Michael

I does make a huge difference, just tune. especially 4.2 td. Nissan make great engines but really cant tune them. Berrima will get the best out of it for you. michael

You can say Berrima but you cant put diesel next to it.

I have a 2004 4.2tdi (previously 4.2 td GQ with 2.5 '' exhaust) was dissapointed until i fitted 3'' mandrel bent exhaust plus 3'' drop pipe(A must) now goes as well as old GQ check Chri QLD same mods plus turbo boost pump mods ect he is very happy with results

Certainly agree there. After Sevo's and Chris's threads and some discussion with them I'm heading down the same path. This weekend I fitted the 3" exhaust and modified dump pipe. Had a few dramas fitting the dump pipe and the tail pipe won't fit properly but should be able to fix this up Monday. The difference was very noticable, won't repeat what Chris and Sevo have already posted before but with out doubt the orginal exhaust does limit the performance.
