The maps are not straight, but that is perfectly correct.
The *.MAP files for the LPI images can be had this link
These are the most accurate and complete set of LPI *.MAP files.

David Au i downloaded these map files but cant work out how to import them into Ozexployer while i am calabrating my maps.
As for Discover Aus i have and use that software with my GPS/Laptop setup which i havent quite mastered yet but i am working on Ozexployer with the topo maps for work plotting fires ect.

Row here is a website you can download the full set of *.MAP files for the LPI maps. This is the most accurate and complete set of *.MAP files available for the LPI maps. http://members.optusnet.com.au/~johntserkezis/ozimaps.html

Yes, the LPI maps are not straight, but they are correct that way. There should be no issues with them whatsoever.

Baz - DiscoverAus is pretty good and yes easier to use, mainly because there are no image files/calibrations to bother with…and of course you can upload maps to your Magellan GPS (well most models). As Im sure you know OziExplorer is a GPS Mapping program that can be used in conjunction with most modern GPS units and also Pocket PC’s. The program has far more functionality and a wider range of uses/applications than DiscoverAus and if you try hard enough you can actually use OziExplorer to make maps for you Magellan (requires other programs).

OziExplorer is a far better supported program with regular updates. Try emailing Magellan and ask then to fix a bug or add a function – has happened repeatedly with OziExplorer. Maybe once or twice with DiscoverAus (when they realised the program wouldn’t work to well with older operating systems and when the help file played up).

Point taken though – if you want to keep it simple and/or are not interested in getting too serious DiscoverAus will help you keep track of you movements.. Anyway what Im trying to say is that Discover Aus is not as good as OziExplorer - far from it - if I had to choose between the two it would not be hard. – OZI OZI OZI OUY OUY OUY !!!…..

Cheers
Greg

You can load DiscoverAus maps to your FX324 but you cannot swap between maps (so only one map can be loaded).

If you do not already have the Magellan FX324 then you might want to look at the Garmin GPSmap 276C

Garmin maps are substantially more comprehensive than Magellan.
I would not even consider a Magellan due to their poor mapping and the extortionate pricing.
