There is conflicting information as to a property owner shuts this track down but some say it is a gazzeted road ????????. If any body has any info on this and track ,creek crossing formentioned. I would love to hear from you

I am currently in discussion with the relevent authorities about this one.
Trying to check status as gazetted road, and if legitimate use by public is allowed.

The info I have so far is that there is a gazetted road through there ie a reserve for a road is gazetted, but the road isn't on the reserve, so the property owner has the right to refuse access.

He is not at all welcoming from what I hear. Until it is resolved, I suggest you don't go through.

Is there something going on at Maytown that I don't know about??

You sure you are not referring to the Maytown/Palmerville Road??

I would like to contact Mr Coonan too, but need you to clarify which road we are talking about.

Cheers,

Gordon

Gordon,

Yes I am talking about the road from Palmerville to Maytown along the Palmer River.

I was advised by a Mareeba shire council official that the reserve is there but the road doesn't follow the reserve. I have been seeking clarification from Mr Coonan since prior to Xmas, but dont have a reply yet.

G'day Glenn,

Did the old coach road (by accident) in 1994, the whole family was glued to their seat and I was dearly hoping to not have to go back the same way. We still talk about that experience because it scared the living sh*t out of us.

Why would you want to miss that?

Kind regards

MAYTOWN

I rang the Palmer River Road House and Asked to speak to any of the locals in the bar. Hey!!!!! what a good Idea i have been assured that the Palmer River Road House has local maps made by locals with tracks that you will not find on Hema maps. I asked of the track being shut down and a possitive answer was just go around this piece of land ??????. I will endevour to get one of these maps .

Stay tuned

Glenn
