Hi all, we were supposed to go to Sheepyard for a get away but one of the crew decided Granny's Flat would be better. I don't care much where we go as long as it's away from
Melbourne. Just surfing, looking for info and it say's "No 2wd access". Half of the people meeting there will be in 2wd vehicles, can anyone confirm/deny this so I can make some phone calls???
Thanks
Blue

Hi Blue
we went to Granny's Flat just prior to Xmas, friends had a Camry S/Wagon and got in [and out] no probs, there was also an 11 seater bus that got in ok....but...at the moment I don't think it would be, esp if they've had a heap of rain, and I'm sure they have had; when we were there it had been just re opened and there was some track damage there...I'd certainly take it easy driving in...it could be very slushy....was a great quiet place to go, the river I imagine will be a raging torrent at the moment....just don't arrive at 10pm like we did...hahahahha....and watch out for deer.
Perhaps there is a local number for Jamieson that you could ring to get better idea of access.
cheers
Lyn

Thanks for that Lyn, we're supposed to be heading down tomorrow arvo. Two groups are in falcon and commodore, towing trailers. I'm at a loss now, long way to go only to turn around and go
home.
Might ring the Jamo pub and see what they have to say.

OK, rang Jamo pub and they reckon tracks have been graded and access for 2wd will be no probs, even after the rain.

I'd be interested to know what condition the
camp ground is in, as when we were there it had been closed due to irresponsible hoons in 4wds that had chopped up the tracks and camping ground. There had been a
gate across the entry, which had just been opened the week we arrived and there was evidence of donuts etc having been performed in middle
camping area, there had also been some grading etc done at the
river crossing.

I live 20 kms away as the crow flies. We have had 170 mm rain (about 7 inches) in the last 2 days. I would expect their to be a river flowing down the road from the Jaimeson
Licola rd side. The bog holes at the bottom would definitely be full of water and the little stream that flows through the valley may be over the road. I would not take a 2WD in this weekend.
The Delatite and Howqua rivers are both in flood currently. So are all of the little feeder creeks around my place. Still raining heavily and is expected to for another day. May be a good weekend to stay
home and watch a movie. Not camping weather up here.

Hi floyd, hope you're wrong as the 2wd's left at about 10am this morning.
I'm about to head off as we speak, may
well find a bunch of stranded people in my travels...

Im not wrong. I am literally 20kms as the crow flies. It is absolutely pi$$ing down here still. I crossed the delatite at 10.00 and it is overflowwing as are the smaller feeder creeks.
You will have a very wet weekend. Forget taking a 2WD vehicle into Granny's. It will not get past the potholes at the bottom of the
hill.
We have had another 15 hours of rain on top of the 170 mm in my rain guage last night at 6.00 p.m.
Good Luck. Should take a sat phone as CDMA and Digital do not work at Grannys last time I was there.
