I have an 80 series L/C 92 model with exsess of 250 000 kms on the clock. There is a clunking sound in the chasis where the steering box bolts on, when you turn the wheels, if you feel inside the chasis while the steering is being turned you can feel the movement inside. The crush tubes are not cracked on the outside of the chasis and appear ok on the inside. Anyone else had a similar problem, and have any ideas on how to fix.

Could the clunk be inside the steering box due to a bearing collapse or something and the noise is being transmitted through the chassis?

Thank-you for the response about the noise in the chassis. It was not the steering box. I have fixed the problem by removing the steering box and grinding a channel through the outside wall of the chassis, underneath were the steering box bolts on, through to the inside section and welding the two sections together. This stopped the movemont and stopped the loud clicking noise as well. Thanks again.
