It has been suggested to me that fitting a UNICHIP engine management device to my Hilux 2.7 EFI petrol would be a good idea as it would make my engine fuel efficient. As the fitting etc costs about $1250 and that's a lot of fuel, I'm not sure if this is a cost effective option. Has anyone out there had this system fitted, is it worth the money and does it have anyother benefits (or disadvantages)

Depends entirely on how and how often you use your vehicle. A Unichip will also give you more power, but if you use the extra power then your fuel savings won't be as great. If I had an efi vehicle I would definately get one, but I spend over $3000 a year on fuel.

On my GU2.8 turbodiesel I have a MOTSON EMC chip( Brisbane). My torque has been checked with a dynanometer machine. Before I could NOT get any sort of torque before 1700 RPM, now my torques starts at 1200 RPM. For hill climb on rocky ground, there is NO bouncing of the vehicle. Huge difference during rough terrain 4WDriving. Guy
