Can anyone update me on best bush camping between Tobermorey and the Plenty river. I have read the trek notes that say Marshall River and Plenty river are good sites. Can anyone elaborate and tell me a little more about each and any other sites.

It's a few years now since we camped on the Plenty river while going from Boulia to Alice. But we had a good night. The Plenty is a typical outback river which was dry at the time. Usual collection of gums along the water course. Drove along the edge of the river for 1/2 a kilometre and set up camp amongst the trees, just in case some trucks came through at night. Arrived about an hour before sunset and was gone an hour or so after sunrise so didn't see alot. But would recommend it as a stop otherwise the plenty highway can be a long run.

A friend always prefers to camp on the Georgina river. Does the same thing, bush camps a few hundred metres away from the road.

But we preferred to gat past the grey bulldust around the Georgina and get onto the better section of road in the NT. From the plenty we get into Alice early afternoon.

old-plodder,

How long did it take you to travel from Boulia to Alice. We are planning a trip aroung the same time as David O and was curious as to the time frame.
I travelled the Plenty from Alice to Boulia back in 1992 with a mate, we were young and ok to drive 16hrs a day!!! But now with the family it's a different story!

Cheers,
Marc.
