Last time I checked, Jeep Cherokees weighed around 1900kg. Be good if this bloke did some research first.

That'll be interesting, he's just banned Ambulances, Fire Engines, Food Delivery etc
from all the local shopping centres.

Adds more to the idea of engage mind before mouth.

I'm more worried by all those little "Doof Doof" cars running around.
One of the favoured ways of lowering them is remove the coil springs and ride on the bump stops.
As most everyone that owns a 4WD knows, effective suspension is essential for effective braking and cornering.

How do we get this stuff into the media and get rid of the FUD being circulated?

Hi Geoff,

Incredible!

Also NRMA recovery vehicles, tow trucks and almost EVERY commercial vehicle, the type of vehicle that would go there.

Personnally, I believe checking if pedestrians had brains before allowing them out would help cut accidents.
Like young drivers (and some of the old!!!) with oversize exhausts, they appear to be under the influence of illegal substances the way they meander around on paths and roads.
Haven't these turkeys got anything better to worry about than a few loonies getting knocked over mostly because of their own stupidity?

So am I Ross P. but watching some of them perform on the roads ain't a pretty sight!
Why do some of these people constantly complain about 4bys yet ignore Mums taxi full of screaming unbelted (seat belts I mean but the other type of belt around the ear may also help!) kids, buses, trucks furniture vans and anything else which gets in their way?
Why has Australia become so bloody self centred over the last 30 years?

Are we all so weak we take the behaviour of pollies as an example and deny anyone else the right to freedom to do what they enjoy as long as it doesn't involve stuffing things up for others?
I'm not going to read anymore rants from loony so called experts again whether they're the Harold Scrubys or other tossers as it just winds me up too much.
Which is probably why they make the stupid comments they do!

Scrubby has one goal, and it has nothing to do with pedestrians or 4wds. I suspect that he sleeps with the press council. He's failed to ban bull bars, 4wds from inner city areas and now is trying a new tack. No doubt ambos, police , council vehicles and scrubbys Subaru will be exempt.
Trying to reason with him is pointless. His response if any is that you're wrong and he's right, full stop. The unmasked crusader with one track on his map and it leads straight to Macquarie St.
Unfortunately for scrubby a lot of the pedestrians he cares so much about drive 4wds on one kind or an, especially in his electorate.

I’m sure there is a lawyer or two out there that drives a 4wd – maybe a class action defamation suit against this “Scrubby” for the way he portrays all 4wd owners to be.

Ah, what am I thinking, this is AUS not USA.

Had a quick look at the Pedestrian Council website. Seems they are into walking as a way to keep fit and healthy. What has banning 4WDs got to do with that. I would see being struck by a 10 tonne bus doing 60 on a road more of a concern than 20 -30 kph 4WD in a car park. But get this comment from the council president.

"North Sydney Council is to be congratulated for considering placing higher residential parking fees on gas-guzzling 4WD behemoths," chairman Harold Scruby said.

"If you want to drive them off-road, go and live in the country, or have one in the country. These have no place in an urban environment."

If you want to comment email them on walking@walk.com.au...

The parking levy is being imposed on V8s - not specifically 4WDs. So V8 Commodores etc will all attract the proposed parking levy. So smaller 4WDs that are deemed more fuel efficient could see the owners paying a reduced parking levy.

Incidentally - according to the interview he gave Chris Smith on 2GB a short time ago, Scruby drives a Subaru Forester - "all wheel drive" .... so, if it has 4 wheels (and the last one I saw had 4 ...) he also drives a 4WD...sorry "all wheel drive".
