Am going to buy new tyres for my Jackaroo - like the look and reputation of b.f goodrich a/t's ( are they fairly quiet on the road ,just done 65,000 on a set of bridgestone 693's) and has anyone heard any reports on the new goodyear atr's( about the same price - approx $250) any info would be appreciated

Gronk
I have a spare set of rims with BFG AT's. They make more noise than an Highway pattern but not to excess. Can't tell you about wear as I have only done 18,000 on them so far.

I got a set on the Jack now. Very happy with them. Any tyre on rotten roads will make a sound but I have no complaints.I usually have the windows closed and the air con going so the noise is not an issue.

As for wear I don't know yet as I have only done 10,000 k on them. They look smart and do the job I want them to do so I would say, go for it.

I have had a set on my 80 GXL for just on 7 years now - done nearly 120,000 k's and I reckon I could squeeze another rego check out of them. Admittedly a lot has been black top running but there has been a fair amount of k's offroad, gravel and beach also.
I will be replacing them soon and will be putting the old ones onto my trailer - as they are now getting down a bit - I can't recommend them enough either.

look at the B/Stone 694's.
More aggresive pattern than the 693's, quiet as on the black stuff
and excellent in the wet. Good wear so far.
And at ~$215 each (265/70R16) you can't complain.
my 2c worth!!!

cheers
