I'm thinking of having the Ute (RA Holden Rodeo 2004) Window Tinted The Ute sits in the sun for most of the day and gets like an oven at times. Any thoughts on types of film and costs would be appreciated !
With thanks
Bill

I had a dual cab tinted for $275 with darkest legal tint suppled by 3M. 3M is supposed to be good, has a life time warranty. I find it protects the inside better, A/C works better and thieves find it hard to see in. Not that it affects you, you can get the side windows at the back of windows and canopies tinted with limo tint to further reduce heat and visibility to thieves.

Hi Bill, ring around and you'll be floored by the difference in price... I also went for the 3M darkest legal on my Triton. As already mentioned, they offer lifetiome warranty, I was familiar with the brand and it also happened to be the cheapest... From memory about $55/window. I got mine from Twilight Auto Tint in Ringwood,
I didn't get a chick with big boobs chamoising my car but I saved about $150 on that particular quote...

The warranty is certainly something to keep in mind- lifetime would be perfect. Just make sure it covers extreme conditions (or has no clauses excluding it) worth also looking for one that includes labour on warranty jobs (unlikely though).
I had mine replaced 11 years down the track after the tint started dropping metallic flecks and the windows fogged a little. Go for a well known established installer too so you know warranty will be honoured further down the track.

Hi Bill,

Had my RA tinted before I picked it up from the dealer !!! My last 10 years worth of cars have been tinted. Makes a difference for sure.

As others have said, buy quality with a good warranty.

Cheers.

Thanks to all for your advice.
I rang a nearby Franchise who have quoted $230 for "Mepfilms"...called The Ultimate Protector. It has a Life of Vehicle Warranty. When next in town I'll go and have a look at what they have to offer. For $230 it will be a small price to pay to cut out the glare and keep some of the heat out.
Thanks once again.

Hilux Dual cab was $120. Cant remember he name of the tint, but it has life time warranty yadda yadda. I certainly wont own th truck in 25yrs time so long term warranty doesnt really concern me.

I went with a 15% time (a bit darker than the legal 35%). This makes sooooo much difference it isnt funny. It also matches the ARB factory tint on their canopies.

Hopping in a car with normal 35% tint is a joke compared to a darker tint. Yes I know its not legal.

Cheers,

Glenn.

Thanks for your comments. $120 seems to be a real bargain.
You say it's not legal. How would you go in an accident...insurance wise.? I'm always wary of Insurance Companies. I like the idea of being darker but I'm not sure if I would take the risk.
Thanks Glenn and good luck.
