Hi all
A week or so ago I asked for information regarding a good nissan dealer near me to diagnose why my Check Engine Warning Light was coming on.

A few of you suggested I get diagnose the fauslt myself, so I decided I would.

I got the gregorys book for my GU, made a probe and read the codes.
This is what I got

1401 - No idea
0403 - Throttle pedal position sensor
0102 - Air flow sensor (no surprises here)
0905 - Intake air pressure sensor

The book has detailed instructions for checking each part listed and I will give it a go soon.

However does anyone have any idea what the 1401 code is, I checked over and over to make sure I was reading the codes properly and I'm sure its reading 1401.
The gregorys manual does not list that error code .

Its a 3l TD 2000
Cheers

You may find the air flow sensor, if it is not working properly, will affect the readings of the other sensors you have mentioned. Apparently there is information around on cleaning the air flow sensor. If you do a search you will find a thread I started, on this very subject, and a website address was posted to go to for information. I didn't want to muck around with mine, I just went to Nissan and bought a new one. It had been affected with dust which had gone through the air filter (that's another story) !!

Also, if you contact Nissan, you should be able to get a list of codes faxed to you.

Thanks Muzzgit,

The first thing I was going to replace was the air flow sensor as it seems to be a common problem on the patrol. It seems like an easy part to replace so I will give it a go.

I think I will try to clean the existing one and keep it as a spare, it seems cleaning them gets mixed results.

I kind of hoped it might sort a few of the other readings out, will wait and see.

Cheers

Groove,

1401 to 1408 is a NATS malfunction (Nissan Anti Theft System)

Knew the workshop service manual I bought off ebay for $16 would come into use :-)

Hi Groove
I like the idea on being able to read the fault codes.
How did you make the probe ?
Do you have to have a special plug to plug in under the dash?
I have a 2005 3.0TDi GU and I think if something should go wrong especially out bush it would be great to be able to try and fault find it. Being a sparkie I have pretty good meters if this is what you are using.
Thanks
Bob
