Wasn't it crap...
But again anyone expecting bargains (and there were 100's of the suckers!!) would have been bleep tered.
EG.. shower tents at the Aussie Disposals stand $99.00 they were $90.00 last week when I went in the local! When I mentioned Rays usually do them for $65 at their 20% off sale, they lost 4 sales in 1 second with the dudes around me LMAO!
Oh
well finally got the shower.. $25 at Anaconda stand.

Bruce,
Miracles happen, we agree again (remember the Hewitt thing?).
It was a disorganised conglomeration of of poorly presented traders displaying their wares.
The only thing of note I saw was that Versa Lites were readily available at $70, which makes their normal price of around $100 at 4wd outlets seem a farce. Still makes the Arlec light look a bargain at $50.
Still, I got a great tent peg puller which made the day worthwhile. Other than that, a waste of time.
Cheers,
Jim.

Good to catch up again Bruce. Was good to go and have a look, I won't bother with the Caravan and
Camping show again at Caulfield. That is despite the ripoffs. LOL It was good for a look though.
The CFA do a good job there but the leaving of the site was chaotic. I would hate to be there on a Total Fire Ban day. I would expect there could be a bloodbath in the paddock with people in their cars waiting to leave. There was inadequate control of queues - by exit lanes or people. Some drivers who just took a short cut were given a priority over those patiently in queues. The guy who was directing traffic was just waving them on. Toonfish was just ahead of me waiting for 35 minutes, I reckon we waited 3/4 of an hour in all. Apparently nearly directed Crazie into a Subie.
Why would they wave people in to the pay
gate through two gates and have one to exit? They actually had three gates in all and they could have got people out quicker onto the road at least, even though the road had it's limitations too - single lane gravel on to a narrow bitumen. A potential disaster there.
Ok, despite that all it was worth the look as there was a bit of gear to look at, even before you got out of the car park. Even saw a couple of camper boxes like our MFI one, saw one near where I live just a week ago too, so they are getting about.
It was good to see Truckster, Crazie and Kir, GOB and Denny, Adrian, Jim, Toony and Mrs Toony, and Garry, though apparently I missed Jimbo.

Evening all
Wife and I arrived at 10.30, and after parking near the last Big Pine Tree before Warburton started checking out the sites/stands/displays.
Agree with everyone above, especially regarding the prices of things.
The only thing that I needed was 4.75T bow shackle and decided I would get one when I saw one.
After about an hour we blundered into the Opposite Lock stand and amongst other things here were a stack of loose 4.75T shackles.
SWMBO says buy one of those and you won’t have to keep looking. When ever I take her advice re buying things I tend to get duded. However if I don’t take her advice, I get duded twice as bad.
So I buy a nice green 4.75T sucker for $19.00 ( I know, I know – now at least anyway).
10 minutes later in the Duncans 4WD stand is the best looking 4.75T Black Rat shackle you are ever going to see for $12.50 (So I bought one of those also).
5 Minutes later in god knows whose stand there is a plain old gal one for $11.75 and then just around the corner in the Pro Comp stand they were selling them for $15.00. (That made me feel a tad better)
Best thing of all was that it wasn't as hot as last year.

Well, to break with the status quo, I actually enjoyed the event.
I had a couple of things to check out, water tanks and or bladders, swags, and shocker lengths for the rear of my Hilux.
I found out what type of water bladder I need, and that a stainless tank is too expensive.
I found that the shockers I have a two short, stopping articulation on the back.
And, I bought a new double dome swag from Southern Cross, bargained $70 off the recommended price too.
It was a great day. And to top it off, I knew about grape grazing, so I headed back to Cranbourne via Wandin East, Monbulk and Emerald. Home in under an hour, and a nice traffic free enjoyable drive through the Dandenongs.
Andrew
