Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of Landcruiser 100 series with IFS having problems with the lower control arms cracking. If you go to
http://www.outback4wd.com.au/outback_4wd_011.htm there is mention of this happening.

Simon, it has been discussed a few times on here. This is article is a reprint of the Moon Advertiser. Another one from memory after two broke them on a CSR trip. I guess some are a bit sheepish to mention them after they paid so much for the name. It is a separate issue to the one of losing teeth of the diff that can just happen dropping your wheel over a
rock.

Yes they paid more for the name but the name represents a better vehicle which is what they have also received . Settle for second best by all means and buy a Patrol but those of us old and ugly enough to know better will buy the better product with our hard earned everytime.
Until that is the Patrol the Landcruiser gets my money each time.

Have first hand experience with 9 now, and I dont think the ARB brackets are the fix either, as they still allow movement of the bend in the plate, which the weld on the arm doesnt like.
We also weld the inside of the join of the 2 bits of the A arm.
There are some pics [first 6] under photos / sliders and steps on my site www.the-shed.net

Where exactly do they crack. I have had a look at
mine and they don't look as though they are cracked, but maybe I am not looking in the right place.

GO_OFFROAD,
I checked the photos. The repair you did looks good. I notice you had pics of a Prado 120 - Is the A-Arm off the 120 or off a 100?

that is a 100 series arm, but the 120 pics are rear bars, slder steps, wider wheels, and
suspension lifts i do for 120, 90, 100 etc.

Yep, we do proper sliders for the 100 IFS, the balck ones in the pics are fitted to an IFS 100, but the steel pearl metalic [
grey] is standard color.
