Pascoe(I think) exhaust, Gaffney street Coburg. Really helpful, good, neat job, quoted $500, charged $500.
Check the phone book, I think it was called Pascoe.

Desert,
Did that include the dump pipe off the turbo (assuming yours is turbo'd)?

When I had mine done, it cost me $220- from Glen Binskin at Wauchope (NSW) just for the dump pipe (cos there's a fair bit of fiddly welding work including a heavy plate flange that bolts onto the turbo) and then i got a local place here in Kadina to make up the rest of the system and that cost me $900-!!! But that's about what i was quoted by Glen Binskin if I'd had his blokes do the whole job.

the dump pipe is crucial if you're trying to gain some performance benefit, as without it, you're still trying to squeeze the gases through a relatively small orofice, before it enters into a larger system....so no benefit at all.

Cheers,

Roachie

Eric, I got my 3" madrel bend exhaust from a local bloke in Morwell, cost $280 from memory, so it may pay to ask around your local exhaust blokes? Got my 3" dump pipe from a mob in Qld, Northside ARB I think, but believe that MTQ now sell these and are cheaper. Hope this helps.

Forgot to add, I have a ute and I had the first peice of exhaust Performance Heat Coated to prevent heat entering the cab, as the original heat shield is removed. This has certainly helped.

Hi John,

I've just removed the heat shields over the rear muffler on my HJ61 to instal a long range fuel tank. I'm needing to replace/rework the heat shield around the new tank and are looking for options.

Can you tell me what "Performance Heat Coated" involves?

Does anyone else have solutions?

I was going to use some fibre cement sheeting and see how long it lasts.

Tim

Tim, HPC in Leonagtha is where I had it done, it invloves coating the pipe inside and out with a heat resisting coating, it can be done to external surfaces of muffflers etc. Hope this helps.

Eric

I had a 'matched' one made up for the Troopy by Lilydale Mufflers, that included replacing the OEM muffler with a straight through set up. Extremely quiet.

They allegedly did a whole lot of exhaust R & D work for Safari and therefore are supposed to have a idea or two.

Won't hurt to give them a ring and see what they have to say.

Do you really think Mandral bend exhausts are worth the extra coin on a non performance vehicle?

Fair enough on a drag car where 1/100ths matter or a high performance V8 etc.. But a 4b?

Had a 3" mandrel bent pipe fitted to my new 4.2 Turbo by Motsons in QLD. They fitted the Dump pipe, through floww exhaust, cost approx $1,500.
Made a real noticible difference especialy when towing a caravan & in low range rock crawling.
Im more than happy with the results
