Your question suggests that you have no idea whats involved.

These are a shim adjustment and are a best left to a specialist 4wd shop or diesel workshop who have all the required shims plus the necessary tool to access the shims.

Buy a Gregorys #513 workshop manual and it will teach you a lot about your vehicle.

Phil, thanks for your response - i now understand why noone replied!

i think my qn was a little misleading. I have the manual and am aware that adjustment requires measuring shim thickness/shim-lobe clearance etc.

I'm mainly interested whether a 'special removal tool' is required or whether the shims can be removed with screwdrivers as the manual suggests, and also size of front crankshaft bolt.

I've mainly worked on petrol engines in the past, and have not come across this arrangement before. From the procedure outlined in the manual it does not appear to be terribly difficult - is it?

Twigiee

The job is difficult. I've done my own mechanical work for 30 years, but won't attempt it - happily pay for someone else with the right equipment to do it properly.

Cheers
