Gday all
I was just wondering if any body has stayed at the Macdonnell Range Caravan Park in Alice Springs?
Is it OK or is there a better park to stay at while in the Allice?
Thanks

Hi 80s
Stay at the caravan park at the BP .It is great and every Sunday morning you get free pancakes for breakfast with any topping. You can eat as many as you like. The record is only six I think as they are huge. We will be there later in the year and always there on a Sunday.

I stayed in a cabin there last July for one night. Crowded as buggery but OK by CV park standards. Its a huge place and easy to get lost in after dark after a few refreshments. We also spent a night at some joint to the north of town about a week later which was OK too. It took me a while to get used to using the 'facilities' rather than just wandering off with the shovel. The ranger was pretty good about it really.

I have only stayed at the Big Four caravan park , three times since 2002 , tent site to 6 berth ensuite cabins , great service and the free pancakes are a must on every Sunday am . - I would go back .

Thanks all
The pancakes got me sucked in as well.
As our trip plan falls into place (provided everything goes OK) we will be there on a Sunday.
I think the decision is made.
Thanks again.

80s,
I always stay at that park. I don't know if there are any better but they have everthing that you will need on site.

Camping grounds, caravan sites, and cabins. There is fuel as well as a shop, pool, and BBQ areas.

They will also store a van and have a place where you can change your own engine oil and have a drum to dispose of the old oil. They also don't mind if you some minor repairs to your vehicle as long as it is in the work area.

Only down side is that it is a long walk to town, better to drive.

Cleanest, nicest C park I've stayed in - bloody brilliant. Think it was $25 for a campertrailer and two people per night (-10% for VKS737 membership - maybe other orgs too).

Im with Banjo and Wayne, Loved it!! Its far enough away from Alice to be away from undesirables, the camp is clean and very well kept.

There is even a vehicle wash bay after you get back from the 'bush'!! I went through in summer and the joy of a grassed, shady campertailer site was superb. You can relax in the pool in the late evening and watch the rock wallabies come down off the range for feeding!!

As with any thing good, it can get crowded, you take the good with the bad!

I hope oyu enjoy your trip as much as me!

Matt.

We stayed there last July. Very good caravan park and the pancake Sunday is great, as are activities every night of the week (the poet tales are bloody funny).
We ended up staying an extra two nights - so much to do around Alice and the caravan park was great for the tin lids.

Like most people before have mentioned, it is great. We stayed there last September and they could not have been any more helpful. Big tip for the pancakes though, get there early as the line gets long very quickly. There again, it gives you a good chance to talk to a bunch of people. Hope you have a great time. Big 4 members also get a discount.
Cheers

Also stayed there last Sep. Very good. Staff were helpful and rates seemed comparable. Happy to recommend a stay. We would stay there next time.
