Like, when you haven't been active on this forum for a while, like if you've been away or something, you notice that the spam in your email account has dropped considerably.

Now, I know some of you are thinking........"How would Wolfie know, he's ALWAYS on here!!"

Well, a couple of times, I haven't been, and on both occasions, my spam has dropped by two thirds!

Is there some way we can set our preferences, so that when dudes answer your posts, and followup, it DOES NOT send you the emails?

I reckon it's the emails that go to my account from here that seem to attract the spam, I think....

Anyway, am I the only one what this happens to?

BTW.... been all busy like, getting vehicle & toys ready to go away on four concurrent trips........

Easter = West Coast

Weekend after Easter = Kayaking on Murray

Weekend after that, for about a week... Painted Desert

May 3 weeks away on Beadell Tracks

I reckon I have more fun getting ready, than anything else!!!

Cheers for now.....

Wolfie

PS..... New Forum format is okay......... I'll just go with the flow........... whatever.......... it's all good.

My solution is to run three email addresses; one for family and friends (which would be the only one i'd check when away), one for business type mail, and one for everything else. I appreciate getting the notice of feedback on a thread, but don't need to check it all the time.

Looks like the Wolf's going to be trekking around for much of the next few months! Enjoy the trips.

My ISP also has a good "spam bust". For $20 a year they will stop obvious spam (eg something sent out as a mass mailing, or from an regular overseas spam site). They then send me an email, and i can click on the mail if i really want to received it. There are other options you can set up, such as allowing certain regular mail through - eg a newsletter you want, but gets picked up becasue of mass mailout. A very useful service and well worth the $$s

Amount of spam seems to be related to the quality of filtering your ISP has.
Used to get lots but last year have hardly seen a thing.,.whether I am on this site or not.
I use optusnet & they also have qiute a quick response with queries over the phone so I am satisfied. Others I know on other local ISPs get porn & junk all the time.

It's strange how it goes in cycles, like the subject of spam.

Porn, then drugs, then home loans, then Rolex watches......

Yeah, software rears its head occasionally.

I might do what Motherhen suggested, and get a couple of email addy's.

That would be illegal in Australia, so I doubt David would do that.

Cheers
