Hi there
We are thinking of driving from
Warburton - WA to Uluru in August, along the Blackstone -
Warburton Rd - Tjukaruru Rd. Just wondering if anyone out there has taken this route before and if so what were conditions etc.
Thanks to all

Sure have, as have a few here. Its really a 2wd road unless its been cut up or it rains. Warberton to Uluru in a day if you start early.

You will need permits for
Warburton to Blackstone. I'll be interested to hear how you get on. The road from Blackstone/Wingellina to Warakurna is in good nick, and was having a massive upgrade last April.

I towed an off road van across there last year and it was an easy haul with no real probs . You must have 2 permits to travel accross and both are available from the internet.
Sugest that you take three day and have a good look round as you go. Plenty of photo shots of this great scenery.

Was browsing last night and came across Lone Wolfs Posting (Post ID 20095 Dated 4/2/05) regarding a number of issues that may, and I stress may be encountered. The threads make interesting reading.
Also if you ae running on ULP just read in Western 4WDriver (pg 11 & 12) there is a new fuel being sold at
Warburton Roadhouse called Opal Unleaded. It is a new name for Comgas. Comgas is a brand of aviation fuel, however the Opal does not contain lead so is compatible with all ULP applications. No indication on cost or effects on performance .
