Stayed in the Big 4 overnight 2 years ago. Nothing special for the price ,but is fairly secure with cameras etc .

Can't agree. Unless there has been a massive decline in standards, the twice I have stayed at the Big 4 have disclosed one of the most attractive, well cared for parks on Oz.

Hi Boots,

We always stay at the Top Tourist Shoreline CP. It is nice and clean, and a quiet caravan park.

Cheers

Glenn

Have stayed in the Big4 a few times and found it neat, clean, friendly and best of all, very secure.

Happy trails, Mike.

Hello Boots,
On our numerous trips across the country we have stayed at both the Fauna big 4 and the top tourist Shoreline. We stayed at the Shoreline last time because we couldn't raise the reception on the night bell, just after dark in June 99, 6-30ish.
We went down to the Shoreline and the chap couldn't have been more helpful.
We joined Top Tourist as well as a thankyou, nice and quiet park but didn't see it in the light.
The Big 4 is close to the junction of the Stuart and Eyre Highways and the trucks coging down can get you down if your'e too close to the highway.
Nice park though and well run.
Will stay there when we head over in June this year but will ask for a site down the back.
Enjoy your hols
Rob

Hi
As a local I can recommend Spear creek park about 20 ks towards Wilmington. The other Parks do a good job considering but there is way to much action at night theft etc. There is little or no police response and less than that if the offenders are caught. Camp up in the foothills and enjoy yourself without the risks. Come down and shop fill up look at Wadlata..But stay where in the peace and quiet of the hills

I have stayed in the Big 4 MANY times, both with the CT and others with a swag or tent!!

Found it very clean, tidy, well maintained and the grass rocks, especially if you are on the ground. I Personally have never had any trouble with theft but I am always over catious, never leave anything out or unlocked. Did have a laugh at one young 'kid' yelling to his mates when he thought I had left the Turbo Diesel running with the keys in...turbo timer!!

I have come in there at all hours and if you are going to be late they leave the keys (amenities)with the patroling security guard, I just paid with credit over the phone and was gone in the morning at sunrise.

Would recommend it evcery time!

I hope you enjoy your trip!

Matt.

As stated, the Big 4 and Shoreline are both good parks. Out of those two, I would probably lean more towards the Shoreline as it is in a quieter location. If you do stay in town, remeber to always leave your car and van locked (even if going to the toilet/shower) as occasionally there are problems. The best spot to stay though is at Spear Creek. It's only a short drive out of town and off the Highway and is a great place to stay, even if just passing through.
