Hi,
Has anyone noticed any cheaper 150 watt or 300 watt
inverters for sale lately??? Jaycar have the modified sine wave 150 watt for $50 but I've heard of 300 watt versions going for that on sale.

cheapness is far from the problem
do you need a proper sine wave inverter
what are you going to power with this inverter
do you need an efficient inverter
do you need a reliable inverter

Sorry Austravel, efficiencies may be close on paper but they will be VERY far apart depending on what you are powering. If you are running fluro lights or Switchmode power supplies (laptops, cameras, computers etc etc etc) then the Puresinewave is the only way to go as far as efficiancy is concerned.
I've had both I can tell you that it's not crap, it really makes a big difference.

Didn't realise, haven't really gone into it as all I want it for is to charge a drill battery and maybe a mobile phone battery. I guess other thing will come along but it'll only be basic gear. Only got something this big as it was so cheap. Have read on this
forum a number of times that you can't/shouldn't use modified wave
inverters on swithchmode gear but the techs from work tell me they can't see why. They believe it shouldn't make any difference. I don't know but will look into it if I need to.
Thanks

Have a look at E-Bay. There are some Jaycar
inverters going cheap.

Thanks Utemad, found a 600 watt unit on ebay for $99. Will soon see if it's ok or not but can't beat the price.
