We plan to travel from
Hungerford to Camerons corner via Moombidary, Mirintu
Bore, Bullo Downs and Tickalara, in June.
(eg NOT via Thargominda (North) or
Wanaaring (South).
Has anyone taken this route ? If Yes:
1. Do you need any permits from property owners?
2. Are the tracks reasonable for
well equiped 4WD and camper?.
3. What extra fuel did you carry (or is there fuel at Bullo)?
4. Any special spots worth stopping at, or avoiding.
Appreciate your advice/comments................thanks.

I came back that way 4 years ago and there was only 2 gates on the road . the rest are stock grids. a very easy road but not a lot to see you do it in 8 hrs easy.
there where no locked gates as it is a main road as such.
Didnt carry any spare fuel you can get fuel at the corner or
white cliffs if you do the detour. A camping permit,it is needed for the corner national park and you do get charged by the night.
There isa town common on that road out side of
hungerford and white
cliff you can use for
free camping.
try an ale at the Ford's bridge inn {out side of
bourke } if its still going.

Keith.
I am looking to do the same track on the way from Bris to B/ville for July gathering.
When are you going in June and would you have time to post report before end of June?
Regards

Hi Wim : being new to Exploroz, was not aware of the Birdville trip.
Might change our trip plans & include it. Thanks for the post - will put it to the team & SWMBO.
Always wanted to get to
Birdsville so this is a great opportunity.
Time will be the deciding factor, and as you know there is always more to do and see than there is time. Not going to miss the Yellowbelly fishing, the Observatory at Charliville, + a soak in the artesian pool at
Mitchell.
Check out this report on the area :
http://www.westprint.com.au/Articles%20&%20Stories/overlander_stories.htm#SouthWestQueensland
At that date, the Thargominda, Bulloo Camerons track/road was good.
We also prefer the 'scenic' route, hence avoid the blacktop where possible.
Planning on about a 10 day round trip.
regards.............Keith
