Glue for styrene foam

this is a standard wood glue we use all the time in the Maintenance department
available any hardware store but may have to go to a building supply company for the better one, do not use the normal on a esky waste of time

Two things to do:

Try the gluing process on small samples.
I used araldite when doing model stuff. It was ok but see point one. as all foams are different chemical composition.

I use 2 part epoxy AKA araldyte regularly on polystyrene. It will adhere stronger than the original foam.

Hot glue gun ??

sellys all fix from bunnings......recently stuck some foam to me fridge..........it is stated on the side of the tube that it is good for polystyrene and well it has stuck it onto my fridge superbly

I recently had good success with water clean up liquid nails.I t works well as it is thick enough to fill uneven surfaces. As others have said TEST FIRST as it may react if diferent plastic.

any PVA glue

Any epoxy-based resin or glue will do the job.

It's the polyester resins that melt the stuff.

There is a special contact adhesive that can be used for polystyrene, this contact adhesive does not use toluene as its solvent and does not damage the styrene in any way.

It used to be sold by a company in Huntingdale (Vic) called Nightingale Chemicals. It was made for them by a chemical mob Beta Chemicals in Heidleberg Vic.

I am not sure if these companies are still around or they have been taken over by International Resins in Tullamarine (Vic)
