Just Tuesday I was at my local mechanics for a pink slip and while waiting for a while struck up conversation with another guy. All went well till the mechanic drove my truck in and the conversation went something like this

So you drive one of them 80 series .Yep

No need for something that big and heavy on the road should be banned

I was taken aback becasue this guy would not have weighed 50kg and I thought he might have not been so game standing within my reach.

But no , he went on. blah blah killers blah fuel gusler, balh blah, detroy blah blah.

He then said and they don't offer any more room than my barina.

I said well I understand that for you around the city it is not needed, but last weekend I took 5 other s(thats six) peopel and all our gear and a fridge out bush for 3 days.

he went on, too heavy for the road, blah blah.

I thought I don't have to prove a point hear just listen to his side and perhaps show him first hand . I asked could he fit my fridge and my 5 friends and all that gear in his barina.or perhaps just the fridge.

he said "anything i can't fit I don't need"

Sorry to let the team down but I just shook my head and the mechanic came back with my pink slip. I left wondering.

Well on the way home I thought of a dozen things I should have said. But I don't think he would get it.

Sorry team

I came across one of them not so long ago.

Was doing some volunteer work at the locfal information centre when this fella walked in and started crapping on about 4x4's(after seeing mine parked outside) and how he could go anywhere in his Mazda bus etc etc. When he paused for a breath I said "I am sorry that you cannot afford the repayments on one like mine, as you must want one very badly".

The building shook as he slammed the door on the way out.

I came across one too.....
she was a real B
abused me with some no lots of polite words....why?

I drove into to shopping centre car park and found a park ...noticing the space in front was also clear I drove into that, so I would not need to reverse out..if you follow the scene.....

any how my tow bar tongue protruded back into the park behind...i didnt know...it was about a 6inches. and in flew this commodore and whack ...hit the towbar.....

"bloody great big pieces of sheit that you cant even drive or park" and more etc etc etc....hey I was stationary and had just commenced walking to the shops....

Felt like jumping in, reversing to show her just what sort of damage the toyo could do...lol lol

Hi Skinny
What is the name or where is this mechanic? Seems to me we should keep clear of him. For any of us to to take our vehicles to this guy and he hates our choices so much, you gotta wonder how good his work would be anyway. Perhaps he should just work on Barina's if they can do everything.

.... and said....."'cause I've got a little dick!" They don't want to argue after that..... can't work out why.......

Tracy gave me a serve though!

My ex girlfriend has a sister who was like that.

Untill we all went camping down near denmark.

After driving about 5 klm up the beach to do some fishing, and pulling a hilux out that was bogged (air pressure, its all about air pressure) and then going back up the beach everyday, she soon changed her tune.

I had a taxi driver going on and on about 4wd's and how bad they are, dangerous, gas guzzlers, blocking your view yada yada. I started probing him, turned out he just bought a Ford Territory for his wife!!! But that's ok obviously..... It's a 2wd not a 4wd was his reasoning...

So I kindly pointed out that his 2wd Territory weighed more than my 4wd, used nearly twice as much fuel per 100km as mine, had more power than mine. Then I asked him, so that's safer than mine eh?

I also then pointed out that mine actually get's used at the very least once a month for camping and 4wding.

He changed the subject after that. DH.

You can imagine the comments I get with the Humvee then, the best one I had was the bloke that said to me bloody 4wd's etc, went on and on.
His finishing line was its bloody unsafe for the passengers too, no airbags or crumple zones.
I couldn't resist my reply, "bullbleepit has lots of crumple zones, they are all the shiny coloured things around it in the traffic" his mate cracked up laughing and he just opened and closed his mouth like a fish and walked off.
I must say though I get far more positive reactions then negatives.

Nah mine is the full mil spec light armour, slantback, just like the ones in Blackhawk Down, without the bullet holes and blood.
Ex USAF from Saudi Arabia, been used on airfield defense, never seen action probably. All that was missing was the 50 cal and the M16's when I got it. anywhere from 15 to 60k all around 15 y/o.
There is an identical one for sale at the moment in NSW, RHD, registered 12 months $50k.

Well you wonderful lad have made my day, so much support.

I just loved that trouser technique Wolfie and I think I will get a sticker printer

"All pissy little cars with out adequate protection and capability should be banned." if I can borrow that one.

Perhaps they should just work out how to make other vehicles last as long as a well built truck with decent running gear.

Perhaps the car manufacturers don't want ot be selling more 4x4's as they require better building and more resources to last. Perhaps the damand is forcing them and those left behind are crying.

Anyway I think I will look for a space for my explore oz sticker and my new one above.
