Had a great conversation with a bloke today . His name was Danos Shukuraglou.

We were chatting about our recent Murray Sunset trip and he told me of a interesting trip he did in 1983

We was working with Rothmans and was a organiser in the Pharaohs Rally. He was approched by a gentalman by the name of Fenuil ( no surname ) who with a team of 2 others ( Raid Bahar & a French mechanic Morris ) to do a Vehicle test on the 60 series.

They took a supply of 600 L of fuel and a Mercades G wagon and a comprehensive check list from Toyota and set off on a trip .

Cairo
Great Valley
Abu Simbel
Laxur
Hangada
back to Luxor
back to Cairo

After there trip . Toyota took there notes and tested & improved the vehicles and came up with the name Sahara after there treck .

I was sitting in amazment today , looking forward to pictures next week when we meet again.

Not a tipical post , but I thought it made for a interesting day.

Well, let's consider what would happen if Toyota came here.....

Simpson?

Nah, sounds like a washing machine.

Stony?

Nah, sounds like the Diahatsu Rocky.

Unnamed Desert?

Well, you can draw your own conclusions there....

Little Desert?

Got some problems with that one....

Come to think of it, I can't think of an Australian desert that would sound really cool on a 4 x 4.

But, but trendsetters....... consider this.......

What if you could buy a 4 x 4, called ........ West Field? Now, that is more fitting, isn't it!!!!

Couldn't resist..... sorry......
