I've got one.
But I'm not selling :) Sorry could not resist.
I bought
mine a few years back as a "remainder" for $10. The original print run (was it by the CFA?) did not sell
well and they lost money on it I understand. Perhaps it shows how much 4WDing has increased in popularity that last I heard these were selling for $70+ on the secondhand market.

There is a new ESMAP due out very soon, but CFA wont be selling them to the public due to privacy legislation, this applies to all CFA Region maps

You're putting me on!?
There, surely, can be no data on the CFA maps which is not available from existing sources or from an overflight in an aircraft? How could such information be considered "Private"?
I'm probably more in favour of keeping information out of the public arena than most but this bloody stupid privacy legislation has gone much too far.

PS. Does that mean my existing ESMAP is now illegal?

I believe the reason the CFA stopped selling these was that they included property owners information printed on the maps to aid with evacuations.
This clearly contravenes the current privacy act and apparantly it would cost too much to print without so they gave up.

I have no knowledge of the details of the act but given that name/address info. is available from the electoral roll and (I think?) for property owners the Land Registry and probably the phone book and didn't / don't? some councils sell lists of rate payers - then the whole thing sounds very silly.

pjchris is basically right Mike,
The region maps showed the location of properties and the name of the occupants / owners, for whatever reason it was decreed that these could not be sold to the public and were for Emergency
Services use only.
The ESMAP is slightly different, as it never showed peoples details, and still wont, it's more that there will only be a limited print run. So your current ESMAP is still legal, you'll just have trouble getting a hold of the new one.

esmap is out of print and about 10 years old in data, if a cfa member, you can download each page off thie website, but it takes ages, I am trying to get a hold of the DSE firemaps books, much better detail and current info. If i come up trumps i'll get extras.
poeple at my work have nice books too :-)))
