No not when I last checked anyway. They were both 94-96 (no gurantees). I had massive problems running my CBR Honda on shell premium, if it was cold it wouldn't even start with shell PULP. BP, RMMMM - first go.

Got a high performance V8 that previously wouldn't run on anything but BP Ultimate (98 ron) without pinging under extreme load. Come the new Vortex 98 and there is a real competitor on the market I did two tanks of each and Vortex 98 gives 50 to 70 km more per tank. See if it lasts. ultimate was strong out of the gate when it first hit the market but dropped in quality later, a marketing ploy I thinkest. I will watch with note.

Howesy,
Hard to believe the quality dropped seeing as the Ultmate has to meet very tight quality standards, I would like to think there was something else causing you machine to be not a s"quick out of the gate" and not the quaility of the fuel. Yes I am affiliated and I'm aware of the checks and tests every load of finished product has to go through.

Well Martyn I have been using ultimate for a long time and I do 1000K a week so maybe I just got used to it but as for a comparison, figures dont lie and I checked over several tanks of each brand and the other brand consistently came up trumps on feel and milage. So much so that I now have a fuel card for that company too. I still use Ultimate as well because most of the time the milage benefit of the other brand is offset by a higher price at the pump. Time will tell if the other brand quality drops as I check my milage every fill (2 to 3 days). I did contact the technical guys at BP a couple weeks ago and they confer with you that it hasn't changed however there will be changesto the fuel from time to time with the refining processes.

WDR,

Shell and Mobil PULP fuel (in WA) is 96RON (confirmed by tests we do at work), as is BP PULP. BP Ultimate and Caltex Vortex are 98RON.

Not sure if any of this is true as it is my understanding (having worked there) that all fuel for WA comes from the one refinery in Kwinana (BP).
