Hi all
I have just fitted a sunvisor to my GU , what a great add on, I know they have gone out of flavor these days but I really recommend one , we spent yesterday driving all day and it was very sunny , normally by the end of the day my better 1/2 has a head ache ( No smart comments required) but after fitting the sunvisor we both found the trip much better and we never lowered the internal visors once ,these are large and cut out a lot of view of overhanging branches, I found a guy on ebay (eastern states) that makes them to order we got the mesh one in black , it cost me $170 delivered to the door in WA and only took 15min to fit . Hope this little bit of info can help someone

You could go for $50 for a strip of tint across the top from side to side I have found works pretty well. The gear up top does enough damage to airflow.

Why would he want to do that when he has just fitted an excellent product for $170 that is legal, unlike the tint you suggest?

why indeed Jack, but no more or less legal than a lot of tyres I see and many other vehicle mods. Actually the guys that fitted it suggest it is quite ok the way it is done. I did consider a screen out from the rack actually, but preferred not.

I am pleased you consider it excellent without seeing it.......

It is perfectly legal to have a tint strip across the top of your windscreen. Lots of new cars come with a version of it anyway.

Just asked a mate of mine who happens to be a traffic cop and he says that the tint across the windscreen is legal as long as it does not impede the drivers vision..l had this done 2 years ago and it works great...just for the record D-JACK who told you it was illegal....do gooders<< don't you love em

Hi again ,I had the tinted strip done awhile ago and was pleased but not satisfied , the sunvisor has done the job I hoped the tint strip would do ,as for air flow the visor is mesh so little resistance and designed to sit with the least air resistance ,
sorry have no photos yet but hope to do some soon for my rig photo .Do a search for sunvisors on ebay and you should find them there is a photo there .As it was made to order I let them know I had a snorkel and they allowed for it .

Peter, what was it like to fit?....would you say it was ok to put on just for trips away, or is it a bit fiddly? And would you have a link to guy who is making them?

It only took me 15min tops to fit , it comes with brackets that clamp to the gutter both sides and 3 screws each side to drill into gutter , I would say you could only use the clamps so it could be removed , I have fitted mine fully as we do a lot of trip to the city from the country and it will be used all the time ( it looks very tidy when fitted ).From order to delivery took 1 week and I payed by direct deposit .

Peter that visor looks pretty good, I was wondering how the black visor would go with my white GQ. I also finaly found the ebay add and might have to invest in one of these visors a bit later on. Thanks for the info.

Long as you're racking in the money. Yep Bush Camping is going well, I scraped the bigpond web setup as it was a nightmare (had to rebuild it everytime a change was made), now have an interactive site at http://bushcamping.forumsplace.com/index.php .
Yep TCWA meetings tend to dribble on - there's one tomorrow night.
How's that proposed trip to the top of the hill on the local Farmer's place going?
