Since Christmas 2003 I've been hearing comments that Nissan is going to give their TD42 a major revamp to compete with Toyota's 151kw diesel but so far nothing has come to light. I will soon be in the market to buy a new GU and don't want to buy one and have the new engine released just afterwards. Has anyone heard anything?
P.S Toyota recently had a secret product expo just south of Brisbane and featured the new LandCruiser with its new V8 twin turbo diesel. The expo was open only to overseas journos and photographers but a friend of mine was invited as a 'traffic cop'.

I call bullbleep, since Turbo V8's are illegal in Qld aws a dude on another forum has found out. Or at least Turboing a car with a V8 is.

Come on, dont you realise blowing holes in pistons, failing turbos IS THE WAY OF THE FUTURE?

I was under the impression that nissan are not going to proceed with a 6cyl TD.

As for a TDV8. If it passes all ADR specs, as it would have to for toyota to realease it, then QLD has no say in it.
