Hi all, I am looking at travelling along the
Anne Beadell Highway later this year. I have had a look at the trek notes but am still seeking more info/advice. At this stage the info I am seeking is the distance from
Coober Pedy to the recently opened "roadhouse" along the track and whether any permits are required to travel the WA to
Laverton section of the track. Any other info would be welcome.
I have a 1994 Toyota 4 Runner, 2.8L diesel engine with a 113L tank. Extra fuel requirements ??

The Hema SW Desert map is pretty much all you need - the Westprint map is out of date & adds nothing to what the Hema map gives.
The Ilkurlka (pron Ill gooka) roadhouse is 165 km west of the WA/
SA border and hence about 880 km from
Coober Pedy. Sells diesel & petrol 9-5 Mon - Fri weekends by appointment only. Ph (08) 9037 1147. No credit cards or EFTPOS so take cash.
If you have a GPS, stop at the 127th meridien where there is a nice little brass
plaque that you would otherwse scream past. It was put there by Bill & Prue
Singleton of Narrabri in 1997. If you don't have a GPS it's about 9km west of the first
shed tank west of Ilkurlka
Also don't miss Bishop Riley's Pulpit, east of Yeo's
Lake.
Gave a great trip.
