WILL ENGINE FROM GQ FIT MY MQ?
FIRSTLY THANKS TO ALL WHO ANSWERED MY QUERY ABOUT RB30 ENGINE I HAVE DECIDED THAT IT WILL BE A LOT OF WORK TO FIT BUT I HAVE BEEN OFFERED A VERY GOOD GQ ENGINE AND FIVE SPEED GEARBOX
(4.2 LITRE) ONCE AGAIN I AM WONDERING IF THIS IS AN EASY FIT FOR MY VEHICLE OR SHOULD I JUST WAIT AND FIND ANOTHER L28 ENGINE I AM INTERESTED IN THE 4.2 FOR TOWING AND ALSO FOR THE FIVE SPEED

Similar deal as previous.
You will have to retain the MQ transfer case to match the MQ offset rear diff.
Therefore the GQ gearbox needs to be adapted to the MQ transfer case......unless you want to fit the GQ transfer case and try to adapt GQ front and rear axle assemblies, brakes differences, drive shafts, spring mounts, steering etc, etc. Diffs cannot be swapped in housings either...........Yep....different. (Cheaper to turn your MQ into a boat mooring and go buy a Complete GQ.)
A decent gearbox /transfer case adapter will set you back at least $1000 just for the adapter before you start adding up all the extras, and a 1000 bucks will go a long way to rebirthing your dead L28.
