Hi All,
Can any of the WA readers tell me some basic directions to get off road in Mundaring. I have not gotten off road for a while (used to live in Pemby/Manji area, following fire trails etc) as I am now living in Perth. I have read on other sites that there are some good tracks around Mundaring, but cant find any groups ging that way this weekend. I am busting to get some dirt under the Nissan, as all she has seen lately is black top.
Just tell me where to get off the bitumen, I will find my own way back!!
Cheers,
Hano...

The Powerline Track from Mundaring to Sawyers Valley and Great Southern Hwy. Take the great Eastern Hwy to Mundaring then follow the signs to Mundaring Weir. The track to turn off is on the left about 2 kms from the Weir.

RickWAGUPatrol would proberly know the name of the road for the turn off.

This is a good track - I did it in Nov 04 with Rick and other from the Forum.

Hey thanks mate, thats excellent. Do people from the forum meet up much? I usually travel with another vehicle when in the Sth West, but havent found a travell buddy up here yet. Can you recomend any 4wd clubs, nothing nutso, but more than gravel roads? I have never been a club member, but things are different now.
Thanks for your help.
Hano.

Hi Hano
Check out the little book 4WD days out of Perth by Western 4Wheel Driver available from newsagents. They have some pretty good tracks to follow.
Our Club is doing the Mundaring powerline track next Sat 16th, starting from Peak S/S Sawyers valley @ 10.30am

This book is also available on ExplorOz in the Adventure Shop. Click here to have a look at it.

There is also a Trek Note for the Mundaring Powerline Trek and the Wandoo Woodlands here (click on the names to view the trek).

Happy Exploring,

For a group to go out 4wding with, check out the guys on the
www.perth4x4.net forums.

Some of them are into extreme stuff, but when they're organising a
trip, they'll usually classify them as nana, intermediate or extreme.

Might be worth a look, and they're often out in Mundaring.

Looks like it's going to be a buisy weekend out there. West Coast 4x4 will also be in the Wandoo on Sunday. We'll be mostly south of the powerline.

Another way into the powerline track is the pipeline service track from the Great Eastern Highway, just west of Sawyers Valley (about 3km from the lights in Mundaring). Follow the pipeline towards the weir for about 1.2km and you will reach the powerline.
